The Centre for Quality of Life is the first centre specializing in quality of life research in Hong Kong and in different Chinese communities. The Centre is committed to positioning itself as the focal point for academic research and exchange in quality of life studies in China and Asia, and a solid and internationally recognized research centre in the field.

Because the concept of quality of life is a multi-dimensional concept, cross-disciplinary research is valued at the Centre. It creates a research and exchange platform for faculty members within and outside of the Faculty of the University, scholars from different fields from different universities and regions, as well as relevant parties from different sectors. It is expected that intensified cross-disciplinary, cross-sectoral and regional connections will consolidate knowledge in quality of life and promote quality of life in the world in general and Hong Kong in particular.

The Centre develops general frameworks for quality of life research and to conduct on-going and innovative research projects. Specifically, the Centre aims to systematically chart the quality of life of people in Hong Kong, to enhance quality of life research in the Chinese context and to promote cross-cultural comparative studies on quality of life.
