Genome Sequencer FLX Instrument

→Capable of amplifying and sequencing a library of DNA fragments in a massively parallel fashion, the Genome Sequencer FLX System provides advanced tools for ultra-high-throughput sequencing, including: the GS FLX Instrument and accessories; advanced software to generate base calls and interpret raw reads; reagent kits for library construction, clonal amplification, and sequencing.

The Genome Sequencer instrument is the centerpiece of the Genome Sequencer FLX System. The fluidics subsystem ensures accurate reagent dispensing. It consists of a reagents cassette holding the reagent containers, a sipper manifold, pumps, valves, and debubblers. The fluidics subsystem flows the sequencing reagents across the wells of the PicoTiterPlate device, and moves the spent reagents from the PicoTiterPlate device to the waste receptacle.
The optics subsystem consists of a CCD camera and a camera controller. The camera captures the light emitted in the wells of the PicoTiterPlate device during each step of the sequencing cycle, and sends the digital images to the computer subsystem for processing.
The complete sequencing workflow of the Genome Sequencer FLX System comprises four main steps, leading from purified DNA to analyzed results. These basic steps include:

  • Generation of a single-stranded template DNA library
  • Emulsion-based clonal amplification of the library
  • Data generation via sequencing-by-synthesis
  • Data analysis using different bioinformatics tool

Multisizer™ 3 COULTER COUNTER®

→Using The Coulter Principle, also known as ESZ (Electrical Sensing Zone Method), the Multisizer 3 COULTER COUNTER provides number, volume, mass and surface area size distributions in one measurement, with an overall sizing range of 0.4 µm to 1,200 µm. Its response is unaffected by particle color, shape, composition or refractive index.

The Coulter Principle is the absolute leading technology in high resolution and accuracy and it is further enhanced in the Multisizer 3 by using a Digital Pulse Processor (DPP). You will get the ultra-high resolution, multiple channel analysis and accuracy not provided by any other technology. It all makes the Multisizer 3 indispensable for any industrial or life science research project involving sizing and/or counting. Equally a powerful tool for quality control, it provides the analyst with a system which is easy to use, yet so technologically advanced that it is able to solve most particle sizing problems.

  HydroShear

→HydroShear® offers the simplest, most reproducible, and most controllable method available for generating random DNA fragments. This software-driven device uses hydrodynamic shearing forces to fragment DNA strands.
With the HydroShear®, virtually any source of DNA at any concentration in volumes as small as 40μl can be randomly fractured to within a two-fold size distribution. For instance, if the desired target size is 2kb, the HydroShear® can be calibrated to produce a distribution centered on 2kb with 90% of the DNA falling between 1.3kb and 2.6kb – ideal for plasmid sequencing libraries.
