Abstract

• With COVID-19 will likely continue in the near future, there is expected to be periods of interruption of the face-to-face and clinical teaching.
• In order to maintain a quality education for medical students, there is an increasing need for online teaching.
• The Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology has vast experience in delivering teaching materials online, having completed 2 previous teaching and learning projects: Teaching Development Grant (TDG) funded SMP-I project 2009-2012 and the SMP-II (TDG for 2012-2015 Triennium).
• However, the SMP, despite being very resourceful and with positive feedbacks, is now required major updating, which includes improving the navigation of the interface, updating of the content, as well as adding new features to enhance the engagement of students.
• This proposal includes:
       - Redesigning the SMP interface for faster, more effective navigation
      - Updates of essential clinical examination skill videos and the PowerPoint presentations on core knowledge
      - The addition of videos for operations
      - Video capture and feedbacks on history taking and examination technique
      - Student self-initiated assessment and performance analysis
      - Student discussion platform
      - Electronic attendance registration
      - Smartphone apps with selected material from SMP-III
