Message from the Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning Innovation Expo 2011

Society's needs have become increasingly complex. Our graduates should not only possess knowledge in their respective disciplines, but should also be equipped with professional and generic skills at a high level, as well as the values that will assist them to negotiate their way through a complex and dynamic society. CUHK has always taken the view that students need a broad-based education supplemented with practical and relevant experience.

Striving for teaching and learning excellence is a main reason for efforts in seeking teaching and learning innovations. Teachers at CUHK have always been very receptive to new ideas and use them for the benefit of our students.

It is obvious that we need to continually revisit our teaching approaches and organisational arrangements to satisfy new learning needs. This is the motivation for CUHK's annual Teaching and Learning Innovation Expo – now in its fifth year. Participants in this Expo will no doubt derive inspirations and insights from their fellow teachers here at CUHK and from the teaching community at large. The Expo sets the stage for the creation of a mutual support network and acts as a catalyst for innovation in teaching and learning.
