Professor Fung Kwok‑pui is a Permanent Emeritus Professor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Adjunct Professor at the School of Chinese Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, and Hong Kong Institute of Integrative Medicine, CUHK, as well as Adjunct Professor at the School of Medicine, CUHK (Shenzhen). He is the former Director of the institute of Chinese Medicine (ICM), CUHK and is now serves as Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the ICM.
Professor Fung obtained his undergraduate and master’s degrees from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and received his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Hong Kong. He joined CUHK in 1978 and has since held numerous academic and administrative positions within the University. He was promoted to Professor of Biochemistry in 2002. Over the years, he has made significant contributions to both teaching and research, particularly in the fields of biochemistry, traditional Chinese medicine, and integrative biomedical sciences.
He previously served as Head of United College, CUHK (2002–2012), Council Member of CUHK, Chairman of the Academic Advisory Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Research on Bioactivities and Clinical Applications of Medicinal Plants (CUHK), and Associate Director (Administration) of the School of Biomedical Sciences, CUHK.
Currently, Professor Fung holds several leadership roles within CUHK and its affiliated institutions. He is a Trustee of United College and Member of the Board of Directors of Diligentia College, CUHK (Shenzhen). He also serves as Chairman of the Endowment Fund Committee of the Board of Trustees of United College and Chairman of Hok Hoi Library, Hong Kong.
In recognition of his lifelong dedication and achievements in education, research, and university service, Professor Fung was awarded the title of Emeritus Professor by The Chinese University of Hong Kong, effective 1 August 2016.
