We are pleased to announce the publication of the inaugural issue of the
Studies in Translation History (Fanyishi yanjiu), an annual journal of the Research Centre of Translation (RCT) of the Institute of Chinese Studies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, edited by Professor Lawrence Wang-chi WONG, director of the RCT, and published and distributed by the Fudan University Press. Aspiring to promote high quality research in the field of Chinese translation history,
Studies in Translation History is currently the only journal dedicated solely to publish papers on Chinese translation history.
On 15 June, 2011 the RCT, the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Fudan University and the Fudan University Press jointly held a seminar at Fudan University, Shanghai, to mark the launch of the new journal. Speaking at the seminar were Professor CHEN Sihe, Chairperson of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Fudan University; Professor ZOU Zhenhuan, History Department of Fudan University; Professor XIE Tianzhen, Graduate Institute of Interpreting and Translation, SISU; Professor SONG Binghui, Institute of Literature Studies, SISU and Professor Lawrence Wang-chi WONG, Research Centre for Translation, CUHK. These renowned scholars gave many inspiring views at the seminar, explaining the issues and challenges in translation history research while proposing future research directions.
