POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMS
In addition to undergraduate teaching, the Department maintains vigorous research and post-graduate programmes. The post-graduate course leads to the award of M.Phil. or Ph.D. degrees in basic medical science. Graduate students conduct full-time research under the supervision of one or more member of the academic staff who undertake research in most fields of physiology. Most of the research programmes are funded by the Research Grants Council and other government or private funding agents. Many research groups within the Department have active collaborations within Hong Kong and with overseas institutions. Research facilities in the Department include state-of-the-art equipment for the study of physiology. A wide variety of techniques are available including confocal microscopy, molecular biology, microfluorimetry, patch-clamp technique and others.
