Hosting international conferences on campus is now easier with subsidies scheme
CUHK is keen to promote internationalisation and hosting international conferences on campus is an effective way of boosting the University's global presence and international research. The University encourages its academic and research units to host international conferences on campus by offering assistance and financial subsidies to defray part of their logistical expenses through the Academic and Professional Conference Fund.
Units subscribing to the international events management services provided by the Office of Academic Links (OAL) can receive a financial subsidy of up to $25,000, or 50% of the service subscription fee, whichever is lower. The financial support can be used to cover logistical expenses, including:
In addition, new subscribers with a minimum subscription fee of HK$10,000 can receive a venue subsidy of up to 20% for on-campus conference venue rentals (capped at HK$20,000). The subsidies will be provided on a first come, first served basis. For details, please visit here.
About OAL’s International Events Management Service
The International Events Team at OAL provides event management and consultancy services to assist academic and research units in organising conferences on campus. The team recently assisted in maintaining the registration system for the 10th Conference of the Pacific Rim Community Design Network: Agency and Resilience hosted by the Urban Studies Programme last December. The team will provide similar services for the International Conference on New Perspectives for Outcome-based Evaluation and Research on Family and Children’s Services to be hosted by the Department of Social Work in September.
The services rendered by OAL have received commendations from the university community. Units that are considering to host international events are welcome to contact OAL and discuss how the International Events Team could be of assistance. For details, please visit here.
