Building a Caring and Barrier– free Campus
As a caring institution, CUHK seeks to promote a positive
learning environment and is committed to offering equal
opportunities in academic pursuits for all students. Amidst
the growing number of students with Special Educational
Needs (SEN) joining our family, CUHK has established
the Student Disability Support Services to coordinate
support service for full time students with SEN.
What is SEN?
SEN encompasses a broad range of medical and/ or
mental conditions that make a student’s learning more
challenging when compared with others. Some examples
of SEN include: Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder,
Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech Impairment, Hearing
Impairment, Visual Impairment, Mental Illness, Physical
Disability and Specific Learning Difficulties.
In order to raise campus concern for SEN and build a
more caring community, the University is now providing
sponsorship for its undergraduate and postgraduate
student bodies to organize projects aiming at promoting
understanding of and support to students with SEN in
CUHK. Informal student groups (e.g. groups formed
in class) are also welcome to apply. A sponsorship of
maximum $8,000 can be granted to each qualified project.
