It is my great pleasure to present the CUHK 2005 Environmental Report. Six years have passed since the first Environmental Audit was conducted at the CUHK. We have in these years prepared annual environmental reports describing the initiatives undertaken to enhance and protect the campus environment. Our mission is to educate our students such that they are knowledgeable about the environmental challenges and prepared to shape their lives and professions to address issues of environmental sustainability. I wish to take this opportunity to thank all students, staff, faculty and many administrative units who have worked together for the betterment of the campus environment. We are proud of our ongoing programs and initiatives and committed to work on those areas where further improvements are needed. This report is only a think-piece. In reporting the current situation, it is hoped that this document can stimulate continuous improvement and foster greater partnership in developing an environmentally sustainable campus.
