The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), with more than 130 state-of-the-art buildings, lies on a spacious 134-hectare campus in the New Territories, next to Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve, surrounded by six wonderful country parks. CUHK is the largest tertiary institution in Hong Kong in terms of campus area.
The University has its origin in three colleges: New Asia College, Chung Chi College and United College. In 1963, the three colleges were amalgamated to form The Chinese University of Hong Kong. A fourth College, Shaw College, was added in 1986. CUHK assists in the preservation, creation, application and dissemination of knowledge through teaching, research and public service in a comprehensive range of disciplines.
