Timing Bookstore
Rather than saying Time Bookstore is a second-hand bookstore, we think it
might be more fitting to call it a big family of CUHK students who love books.
We believe in the power of books and hope that more people can understand
what a beautiful experience reading is.
Upcoming programmes:
Timing Bookstore will organise concerts that are linked to books, invite guests
to share their insights and ideas, as well as organise community services that
promote reading. We will also collaborate with independent bookstores,
different CU organisations, stuents and staff, as well as other communities in
society. We hope to explore new possibilities during these activities and widen
the way we imagine a bookstore can be. We welcome you to join us as well as
different forms of collaboration.

Café 330
Located in Chung Chi’s Yasumoto International Academic Park, Café 330 is a
social enterprise founded by the New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Associa-
tion, where some of the staff are ex-mentally ill persons. The cafe’s concept
is to promote physical, mental and spiritual health, while helping ex-mentally
ill people to rebuild their lives. Advocating the low-carb diet, its menu mostly
features organic and healthy food. Here, only environmentally friendly unten-
sils are used, while fairtrade products are sold to promote fair trade.
Women Cooperative Store
Situated poolside at the Benjamin Franklin Centre, the Women Cooperative
Store was founded in 2001 by the Hong Kong Women Workers’ Association
to help a group of jobless women. Rather than the traditional business model
where the employer manages the company from top to bottom, the Store has
adopted the mode of a cooperative, managed collectively by the women work-
ers. From work allocation, salary, working hours and workload to the kind of
services they provide, they discuss and decide everything together – each per-
son is at the same time an employee and a boss, with equal rights and duties,
which would not differ according to how much one has invested. To improve
the conditions of the underprivileged, they have decided to collect part of
each month’s profits to create a fund to support other cooperatives. Various
products made my underprivileged communities (such as remanufactured
soaps) are also sold at the Store in order to support grass-root movements.
