Our Work
Providing information on social and
civic engagement
Our section collects various kinds of information
on social and civic engagement, keeping students
updated with the latest news from outside the
campus. We also act as a bridge, connecting
students with community partners to kick-start
community service projects.
Facilitating students in organising social and
civic engagement activities
Our section provides consultation service, training
and workshops, and activities fund, supporting
students to take up self-initiated community service
projects, and allowing them to utilise their creativity
and professional knowledge to serve society.
Among the various civic engagement activities introduced by this booklet, many are the products of the
voluntary efforts by generations of CUHK students, who not only created the projects on their own, but
have been developing them to the scale they are today. Whether you wish to further understand these
opportunities to participate in society, or even start new activities yourself, we welcome you to our
office for a chat, and turn your ideas into actions!
Planning and organising social and
civic engagement activities
Through the I·CARE Programme, our section organises a
spectrum of activities, including talks, service programmes,
research and investigation, non-profit internships and local
poverty alleviation projects, not only offering students more
opportunities to participate in society, but also broadening
students’ perspective on social and civic engagement
activities.
Promoting various social and
civic engagement activities within CUHK
To further promote the role the university plays in civil
society participation, our section supports various social
and civic engagement activities, strengthening the
connection between the university and community.
