Facilities & Services
The University has a range of facilities and resources aimed at making academic inquiry as smooth, invigorating and pleasurable a process as possible. These University facilities also add extra dimensions to life on campus - from the artistic and cultural, to the recreational and athletic. And at CUHK, you can enjoy all the conveniences of Hong Kong's urban centre without the hassle.
The whole campus, including classrooms, student hostels, teaching blocks, academic and administrative buildings, are connected to the University Campus Backbone Network via high-speed Gigabit Ethernet links. Connections within the campus network are via high speed 10 Gigabit or Gigabit Ethernet links.
Students enjoy round-the-clock access to the personal computers in the Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC). Some faculties and departments also provide personal computers to students.

Computer Account and Resources
All registered staff and students with a valid CU Link card are eligible to open a computer account in various ITSC-run computer systems. They can also access the campus network (through wired and/or wireless connections in student hostels, classrooms, lecture theatres, libraries, restaurants and outdoor areas) on campus using their own computing devices.
CUHK WiFi Service
After registration, staff, students, alumni and visiting guests are provided with free WiFi Internet access covering most of the campus (e.g. student hostels, classrooms, lecture theatres, libraries, restaurants and some outdoor areas).
CUHK WiFi Hotspot Partnership Programme
Hong Kong Internet eXchange (HKIX)
Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC) plays a crucial part in the provision of Internet services in Hong Kong. It manages both the Hong Kong Internet eXchange (HKIX), which serve as neutral interconnection points for switching of intra-Hong Kong and intra-Asia-Pacific Internet traffic without routing through US, allowing a faster and less expensive access to local sites.
High-performance computing platforms play a versatile role in facilitating research users and sustaining a fast, reliable problem-solving engine.
Software License for CUHK Community
Each year ITSC negotiates a number of deals with software vendors. This gives departments an economical way to acquire and update the software.
