State Key Laboratory of Quantum Information Technologies and Materials (CUHK)

The State Key Laboratory of Quantum Information Technologies and Materials is established in 2025 based at the Hong Kong Institute of Quantum Information Science and Technology, CUHK. The Laboratory focuses on the following: the development of diamond quantum sensing technology and its applications in condensed matter physics, biology, energy materials, and device development; precision metrology using novel quantum interferometers, with applications in large-baseline interferometric telescopes, space-based quantum communication, space-based remote sensing, and navigation; exploration of quantum materials systems for quantum information processing by combining topological quantum state theory, artificial intelligence materials search, cold atom simulation experiments, integrated photonics platform for quantum simulation, and research on novel superconducting materials; and development of integrated photonics devices for optical quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing, and neuron computing. The State Key Laboratory will also promote international collaboration and nurture young talents in quantum science and technology.
